Services

The following services are offered:

Psycho-educational Testing includes assessment of a student’s cognitive and academic abilities. This assessment investigates a child’s intelligence as well as what has been learned throughout the course of schooling. Using multiple testing instruments, we provide an overall learning profile which includes strengths and weaknesses. The results can be utilized by schools to arrive at a conclusion about whether or not a learning disability exists.

Psycho-educational evaluations can also include testing for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Attention difficulties can be manifested as inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity. Attention problems can have a significant impact on academic functioning.

At the conclusion of testing, parents will be provided with a written report and a feedback session which summarizes our findings. Reports also include recommendations for intervention, accommodations, and/or follow-up to address the student’s educational concerns. As an additional service, we can attend school conferences to share the testing results within the educational setting. Our goal is to provide information that will help each student reach his or her greatest academic potential.

Early Kindergarten assessment: Most counties in North Carolina require a “portfolio” that includes samples of the child’s work, letters of recommendation, and testing scores from an I.Q. and achievement test. Children need to score at the 98th percentile or higher on the I.Q. test and at the 98th percentile or higher in reading OR math on the achievement test to be considered for early entry into kindergarten. Testing can be administered as early as April 16th of each year.
